SolarSystemX is built on the generous work of these artists, agencies and photographers.

Third-party assets used in SolarSystemX, shown publicly at /credits (linked from the footer). Models are optimised copies (reduced polygon count and texture size) of the originals.

3D models (Sketchfab)

Saturn, Jupiter, Uranus and Neptune replace the planets; the black holes, Vela Pulsar and 'Oumuamua are used for the matching far-out objects.

Moon textures

Surface maps for Phobos, Deimos, Io, Europa, Ganymede, Callisto, Enceladus, Mimas and Iapetus (public/textures/moons/) come from NASA 3D Resources, built from USGS, NASA/JPL and Caltech mosaics of Voyager, Galileo, Viking and Cassini images. Free to use without copyright: https://github.com/nasa/NASA-3D-Resources. Areas no spacecraft imaged were filled in from the surrounding terrain, and the greyscale maps were tinted to each moon's natural colours. Titan's haze is generated (scripts/make-titan-texture.py) after Cassini's natural-colour views.

Imagery

Continent, country, ocean and landmark side panels (public/images/poi/, Russia's made with scripts/render-orbital-view.py) are orthographic views rendered from NASA's Blue Marble Next Generation mosaic (July 2004, topography and bathymetry). NASA Earth Observatory, public domain: https://science.nasa.gov/earth/earth-observatory/blue-marble-next-generation/

Landmark side panels open on the same kind of orbital view (public/images/poi/landmark-*.webp); their photos are in the slideshow list below.

Malawi's side panel is Lilongwe photographed from the International Space Station (Expedition 23, 2010), and Lake Malawi's is NASA's view of the whole lake from orbit:

Planet surface textures in public/textures/ were supplied with the project. Add their sources here if attribution is needed.

Place slideshow photos

Each place's side panel alternates its orbital view with these photos (public/images/places/, made by scripts/build-place-photos.py and resized to 1600 pixels on the long side). Unless marked as the owner's, they are from Wikimedia Commons:
